Improv is the art of spontaneous group story-building. In this 6-week class, learn techniques to perform scenes on-the-spot, and how those skills apply to all aspects of your personal and professional life. Practice being an active listener and learn to embrace spontaneity to create interesting characters and unique environments with your scene partners. Together, we'll experience what feels like magic from instant collaboration.

The fun exercises and interactive games in this class will get you out of your comfort-zone, thinking quickly free of self-judgement, and, of course, laughing! Take a risk, surprise yourself, and make new friends.

TESTIMONIALS:

"I had a wonderful time stepping out of my comfort zone and into the (virtual) stage to learn improv. Ryan is a darling, and a fabulous and fun teacher. As the only Canadian in our class, I made new friends from down south that I’ll be pestering when I hit up their hometowns. Improv is nothing what I imagined and much more about life. I gained confidence in being silly and having fun. If you are considering it and think it may not be your thing, see that as a sure sign that it IS what you need. We become alive when we step outside our comfort zone, and isn’t that what life is about?" – JJ, Special Projects Manager

"I have been doing improv for a few years and find myself writing down much of what Ryan says because he is a great instructor who seriously knows his stuff. How he phrases things, like, "celebrate the other person's choice," provides such clarity to concepts that I want to take away. I have learned such great and valuable things. It has been delightful!" – Michael, Program Manager

"I've been a theatre professional for over 25 years. It's been a long time since I learned SO MUCH in a class that was new and challenging. Improv teaches indispensable tools for everyday life! Ryan is a gifted teacher, the kind of nurturing guy who makes jumping off a cliff seem like the best fun ever. I had a blast." – Maren, Educator, Performing Artist

"Taking Ryan's improv class has been a great experience that I have looked forward to every week. Ryan is a brilliant instructor who is able to handle a diverse group of students despite varying skill levels. He creates a judgment-free space that eliminates intimidation from inexperience; instead, the class feels safe for learning, exploration, and self-discovery. It is evident that Ryan is very thoughtful in choosing specific improv exercises that build off one another. Moreover, he excels at providing clear and individualized feedback without shame or condescension. He listens and responds well to questions and is willing to spend extra time to make sure his students progress. I highly recommend you take his class. If nothing else, you're guaranteed a good time and hardy laughs." – Dr. Dan, Physical Therapist
